Brick beauty

The Atlantis building, a huge, beautiful brick bottle store in the heart of brick lane was once a barely visited vacuous gallery space. Having been redundant for over 30 years, the old Truman brewery building has welcomed becoming the centre of attention in a location where there is plenty to compete with. Enter LBi and Brinkworth, a partnership in creative powers entrusted with bringing the old girl back to life.

LBi asked for the building to shine, Brinkworth delivered an atmospheric space which remained loyal to its roots and let the old architecture and features shine like new.  Brinkworth’s team including N9W’s Scott Compton* worked hard to preserve all the character and scale of the brewer, the flourishes of colour accented the pipework and structure, whilst sports court lines enhanced the understanding of the sheer size of the space. A new entrance, façade glazing, 2 new floors and a full M&E implementation provided a fully operational office environment of the building,  a far cry from the empty shell it once was.

LBi wanted social spaces, they have infamous parties, and the basement, the rooftop and the reception atria provided just the tonic. The space has evolved as expected, LBi are a fast moving agency, go to Jackdaw studio to see the next stages in this new lease of life for the Atlantis.
